About This Dog for Adoption

Mushroom's ideal home

Meet Mushroom, a gorgeous 1-year old Crossbreed looking for his forever home. Mushroom would be able to live with a calm, polite dog in the home pending a successful meet here in the centre. Any children would need to be 14yrs+ and able to give him space when he needs it, as he is a worried lad.
Mushroom is quite under-socialised and under-confident, so will need quite a bit of support in a few areas. He has not learned how to walk on lead, or been out of his house very often. He is not house-trained, so will need lots of training and structure to help with any basic skills he may have missed out on earlier in life.
Mushroom has grown in confidence since being with us, which is wonderful! He really loves his toys, and will play with his soft teddies! He has made new doggy friends out and about, and has done very well on his first few walks on lead.
Once he has built that bond, he is a cuddle bug and will come over for fusses. However, he will need potential adopters to go slow and be patient with him at first until he comes around.
Mushroom really wants to explore new places, but he is very easily overwhelmed. He does get excited at the prospect, but gets more confident with his kennelmates.
Mushroom isn't keen on formal handling, so may need to be muzzled as a precaution. He would benefit from getting to know the veterinarian he will be handled by, to build that bond prior to any procedures or checks.
We can't wait to see Mushroom thriving in the perfect home!

Could you be Mushroom's perfect match?

Mushroom is such a gorgeous lad, and he is incredibly clever. He is a mix of Collie, Spaniel and GSD so he will be able to pick up any basic skills that he has missed out on in earlier life, such as housetraining.
He is quite a foody boy, so we can use this as a tool to build a friendship!
He really would benefit from a quiet home where he can come round and build his confidence at his own pace, with patient, gentle and kind owners that understand he may be overwhelmed at times.
We can't wait to see Mushroom living his life to the fullest!

  • Register your interest in adoption on the Dogs Trust website - you can't apply for specific dogs directly.
  • Create an account to favourite dogs you're interested in and help the team understand your preferences.
  • Dogs Trust will match you with dogs that fit your lifestyle and home environment.
  • Some dogs listed here may already be rehomed or reserved, as updates can take time to sync.
  • If matched, you'll go through their adoption and home-check process before taking your new dog home.
