About This Dog

Abel's ideal home

Say hello to Abel a handsome 3yr old German Shepherd cross. Abel currently lives with another dog in his home, however can be vocal and unsure when meeting new dogs, therefore we are looking for a new home where he can be the only pet and slowly introduced to doggy friends when out and about. Abel does have a high prey drive which means he needs to be kept on a lead in public due to chasing smaller animals or cats. Abel can be worried meeting new people and may bark, once he knows you he soon comes out of his shell to show you his excitable nature, he would be best placed in his new home with any children being of secondary school aged or older.

Could you be Abel's perfect match?

Any leaving hours need to be slowly introduced as Abel is not used to living in a home without another dog. Once settled in his new home leaving hours can be built to 1-2 hours.
He is currently part of our HomeStay scheme; this is where he is living with her current owner while we search for a new home for him and is not currently under the care of Dogs Trust. While we do our best to ensure owners update us if there are any changes in their circumstances, unfortunately this is not always the case and owners can remove themselves from the scheme at any point.
