About This Dog

Saxon's ideal home

Saxon is a 1-year-old German Shepherd who is looking for a patient, understanding home where he can continue to grow in confidence and strength. He is finding kennel life quite stressful and would really benefit from a settled environment where he can relax. Saxon came to us very underweight and with some muscle wastage, so it is important that his exercise is built up gradually to help him regain his weight, fitness and strength. He enjoys having a good sniff around and playing with toys, particularly when exploring new environments. Saxon is a very intelligent boy who loves his toys and has lots of potential to learn. He can become very excited when out on his lead and will need continued work on his lead walking skills. He is happy to wear a harness, and using treats can help keep him focused and make walks a positive experience.

Could you be Saxon's perfect match?

Saxon is happy and excitable when meeting new people, although his new family may want to help him learn to keep all four paws on the floor. He is currently struggling with being left alone, so any time apart will need to be introduced slowly once he has settled into his new home. Saxon may potentially enjoy having walking buddies, but as he is currently under-socialised, introductions should be calm, gradual and carefully managed to help him develop good manners. He could live with secondary school-aged children who are comfortable around a bouncy, high-energy dog. Saxon is a super-smart boy who would thrive with a family that understands working breeds and is willing to continue his training. In the right hands, he has the potential to be a fantastic, highly trainable companion.
