About This Dog for Adoption
Juno's ideal home
Juno is a beautiful 5-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd who is on the lookout for a calm and committed home to call her own. She is a sweet-natured girl with a sensitive side, so she will need patient adopters who are around all the time and can help her settle gently into a new routine. She has lived alongside dogs, been around cats on visits, and has spent time with children—including little ones—though we are currently looking for homes with children aged 11 and up, just to make sure everyone is set up for success.
Juno could live in a quiet home with either a private or communal garden, as long as the space is peaceful and secure. She can find a busy environment overwhelming and also will not cope with being left alone. If she is given time to adjust and a calm, supportive atmosphere, she has all the makings of a loving and loyal companion. She could potentially live with another relaxed dog, but this is not essential. Juno would be happiest in a rural or semi-rural location with minimal passers-by and quiet walking routes nearby.
Could you be Juno's perfect match?
If you are looking for a gentle soul to share your time with, Juno could be just the one. She can be a little aloof when first meeting new people, but once she knows and trusts you, she really warms up and enjoys a fuss and just being with her humans. She has a playful side and will occasionally pick out a toy from her own toy box, though she is not overly toy-obsessed.
Out and about, Juno walks nicely on lead and is generally relaxed when spotting other dogs. She can be strong when excited though, so she would benefit from some confidence-boosting training and focus work. While she is housetrained and knows basic commands like 'sit' and 'paw,' she is not a fan of her paws being touched, and she can be sensitive around grooming or restraint—so will need some confidence builidng. Juno is not used to travelling much and can get travel sick, particularly on winding country roads, so building her confidence in the car slowly will be important.
This lovely girl enjoys pottering and sniffing on her walks, and adores spending time with her people. She will thrive in a peaceful, understanding home that will help her feel safe and give her the reassurance she needs to blossom.
This dog is currently being rehomed under our Home Stay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when the ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Home Stay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with the owners to minimised the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative dog.
