About This Dog

Eric's ideal home

Eric can live with teenagers but not other pets. We have no history for him so can't guarantee that he is house trained, although he has probably lived inside. He will need someone at home with him initially whilst he settles in.

Could you be Eric's perfect match?

Eric is a very handsome mix of Akita and German Shepherd, with a beautiful curled tail. We don't know much about his pre-DT life but he is in beautiful condition, so has probably had an owner before. He is typically aloof as most Akitas are, and although he does enjoy a fuss, he has no qualms about just walking away when he's done! He likes to take time to get comfortable with people before allowing much hands-on action, so it's probably best for his new family to not let people make a beeline for him without his consent. Eric is very playful and likes to chase a tennis ball, but he won't give them up! You'll need a couple on the go if you want to play fetch with him. Eric can be reactive towards other dogs, especially if one barks at him. He is easily overwhelmed if dogs are too close, or there are too many around for his comfort, so it's advisable to walk him at quieter times, and in quieter places. He has potential and shouldn't be denied social interactions with other dogs, but it must be done appropriately.
