About This Dog for Adoption

Onyx's ideal home

Onyx is looking for a home with loving adopters who can take her on exploring, sniffy adventures, give her training and enrichment to keep her clever brain busy and give her all the care and attention she deserves. She can live with children aged 8 years and over who can play with her nicely and can give her space to relax and rest when needed. Onyx is a shy but friendly bean who could live with another dog who will happily co-exist and engage in play with her, this will be pending successful meetings at the centre, living with another dog is not a necessity, she would love to have polite and friendly walking buddies who will let her approach in her own time, she cannot live with cats or other small furries. Onyx has some training under her belt, she does a lovely “sit” and “paw”, she is a clever and engaging girl and could learn new things in short, sweet sessions especially after a sniffy walk and if a tasty treat is on offer. She will need a refresher on her house training so a private, secure garden with high fencing is needed. Onyx can settle nicely in the home, she could be left alone for up to 1-2 hours, this would need to be built up slowly once she has had time to settle into her new home and routine and would ideally be after a walk so she can relax and have a snooze! Onyx will need to meet her adopters a few times prior to going home, and will be going home on a foster to adopt basis whilst she is undergoing treatment, so please bear this in mind when applying. Please note that should you be shortlisted, our rehoming process usually takes up to 7 days, and potential adopters would be required to come up to the centre to meet her within 48hrs of being shortlisted.

Could you be Onyx's perfect match?

Beautiful girl Onyx is a 6 month old German Shepherd cross who has bags of energy and lots of love to give. She loves to play, she will play with any toy offered, but her favourites are rubber balls, she will chase and bound around after them. Onyx is always up for some attention, she loves a fuss and will climb onto your lap for a proper cuddle once she knows you. She enjoys walks, she likes to sniff and explore her surroundings. She can be a little shy meeting new dogs, but once she has met them she likes nothing more than playing and chasing around with them. This wonderful girl is looking for her new home now.

German Shepherd Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a German Shepherd.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the German Shepherd Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
