About This Dog for Adoption

Ranger's ideal home

Ranger is looking for a loving home who can give him all the patience, understanding and love that he needs to settle and thrive. He is a friendly and gentle boy when it comes to his handling, and could live with children aged 12 years and over who will be sensible and gentle when handling him. Due to his age he would prefer a quieter environment so a more calm and peaceful home without too much hustle and bustle would be preferable. Ranger has some worries around other dogs, so in addition to being the only dog in his home, he would benefit from living in an area where he has access to walks without too many other dogs so that he can relax when he is out and about and may struggle if he has dogs in neighbouring gardens. He will need his own secure and private garden with solid fencing that he cannot see through so that he doesn’t worry about things beyond his environment. He cannot live with cats or small furries. Ranger has some of his basic training but would benefit from adopters who will continue to build his skills. He walks nicely on his lead but can become quite strong when he sees other dogs, so adopters will need to be able to manage this when out in public. Ranger could possibly cope with around 4 hours of leaving time, but this should be introduced gradually once he has had time to settle in to his new routine with plenty of company. Due to his breed, he will require regular brushing at home to keep his coat in good condition and may also need occasional visits to a groomer. Ranger will need to meet his adopters multiple times to build a strong bond prior to going home so please bear this in mind when applying. If you rent your property, please have written permission from your landlord ready once you have submitted your application to avoid delays, as it will be required early on in the rehoming process if you are shortlisted.

Could you be Ranger's perfect match?

Ranger is a handsome, noble and gentle 8 and a half year old German Shepherd who is looking for his new home where he can enjoy his golden years as a faithful companion to his humans. Despite his age, he is still a playful guy, loves his toys and will happily play with you in a game of fetch, or take himself off to zoom around with his favourite one. He is especially fond of toys that squeak! When tasty treats are on offer, he focuses beautifully and will offer his best tricks for a rewards, so this will be a great way to engage him in training and build a lovely bond with him too. Ranger loves a car ride and will happily hop in, ready for an adventure with you!
